For classes Middle stage, a well-structured syllabus is provided by the council along with the guidelines. The council also provides a list of books from which the schools can choose for their students. There is no textbook set by the council. The subject areas in the ICSE curriculum have been organised in a matrix format. Each subject follows a theme based approach. For each theme, Learning Outcomes have been identified. These have been given in the beginning of the ICSE Curriculum, after each theme description.
